Riding the good form that took him to a second place finish in the recently completed Winternational Tournament, Hannu Koho dispatched all comers on his way to first place in the final MSA-sponsored 1-day event of the 2007-08 season.
Tomas Gutierrez coordinated the event which took place at the University of MN Rec Center. A handicap system was utilized by Gutierrez to assist lower division players when competing against an opponent from a higher division. Matches were best of three games utilizing traditional scoring to nine.
Koho met MLTAC club pro Arturo Manzur in the final and emerged the winner two games to love. It was Koho’s second 1-day title of the season and certainly establishes him as one of the favorites in the upcoming State Tournament.
In the Consolation Bracket, Dushyant Saran came away the winner. Saran beat event director Gutierrez in the final in what was a well played match.
