The University of Minnesota Squash Club is pleased to announce its annual Fall Classic tournament.  With the introduction of an elite, closed division for the very best players in the Twin Cities plus an array of significant prizes spanning all divisions of play, we are expecting a very large turnout of players and spectators and an exciting two days excellent squash.  Over $2500 in cash, gift certificates, and product prizes will be awarded.   On top of that, this tournament will be a fundraising event for SquashScholars, the after-school academic enrichment program for at-risk Minneapolis Public School students.  Players are encouraged to donate to the program by adding to their registration fee.  Admission for spectators is free, but they too will be encouraged to contribute.  There will be program-branded merchandise for sale during the tournament as well. Several sponsors have contributed product, certificates, and dollars to make this event possible. Hello Squash Players: Thank you for participating in the U of M SquashScholars Classic. I have attached the brackets for this weekend's event. Please note that this is one of the largest turnouts that we've ever had for this event and there are no open courts during the tournament so changes to the brackets will likely be impossible. Also, please be patient with our staff if matches run long - in the past we have had the luxury of empty courts to keep us on schedule, this year we will not have that option. Matches are scheduled from 4:00pm to 10:00pm on Friday night but please be prepared to be flexible. A couple of notes about the tournament: * For all divisions 4.5 and below we will be drawing names for prizes. The drawing will be held at noon on Saturday and *_you must be present to attend_*. The 5.0 and 5.5 Division prizes will be given out based on placement. The prizes are being provided by various sponsors and have been arranged by SquashScholars. * A light dinner will be served on Friday evening and coffee and pastries will be served on Saturday morning. * John Stever, Executive Director of SquashScholars, will be holding a post-tournament social at Stub and Herbs following the conclusion of Saturday's matches (around 3:00pm). He will have more details available at the tournament. * There is a hockey game on Friday night at 7:00pm so if you will be arriving between 6:00 and 7:00 please allow yourself extra time to park. * As always, we are looking for four volunteer refs for the 4:00pm Friday matches and the 9:00am Saturday matches. Please consider coming in to help out. We have all skill levels playing at these times so please stop in no matter what your skill or experience level is. * As part of their sponsorship of this even, SquashScholars is seeking donations. While paying your tournament dues on Friday, please consider leaving a donation to SquashScholars and help John and the rest of the gang continue to spread the game of Squash.
